Rolien Sandelowsky (b. 1989) is a social artist, strategist and writer focussing on subtle and grotesque interpersonal tendencies in society. She thinks and works at the crossings of philosophy, psychology and aesthetics, engaging her education in all three within the projects she takes on. Not here to tell you what you want to hear - here to discover what lies beneath. 

Her projects take on various shapes, from researching to (art) writing to consulting to building and running a non-profit; striving to open up taboos, empower and enhance honesty.

Since finishing her MA Cultural Studies in 2014, she worked as a journalist for (a.o) Vogue Netherlands and creative strategist for Aimforthemoon, Nationale DenkTank, Gemeente Amsterdam, AEF and more. She taught about data, technology, health and religion at De Bildung Academie and various Dutch ministries. 

In 2020, Rolien found the Dutch national non-profit ‘De Oudertelefoon’, a free and anonymous support system to bring down domestic violence and abuse, and helped thousands of families within The Netherlands and beyond.

Rolien currently works and lives between Amsterdam and Lisbon. She’s part-time studying Interdisciplinary Research at The New Centre for Research & Practice, setting up a digital publishing house, working on a book for teens and a creative agency for artists. She (it’s been me all along!) loves talking to strangers, so don’t hesitate to reach out.
